This 60,000 square foot midcentury mall was converted from underutilized former department store to a coworking space to appeal to creative occupants. Through a progressive partnership with SWIG and Port Workspaces created Oakland’s preeminent one-of-a-kind coworking facility. Innovative space conversions were achieved by reusing existing materials in wholly new ways including using shipping containers and an abandoned food locker as innovative meeting spaces. The Port Workspaces at the Kaiser Mall is a workspace completely re-envisioned to embrace the extraordinary creative, collaborative energy that is thriving in Oakland’s entrepreneurial community.
