This three-story, 18,000 square foot Oakland landmark at the entrance to Jack London Square was built in 1909 astride the terminus of the first Transcontinental railroad. It was once known as the Overland House—the place for travelers to complete their “overland” journey before setting sail on the Pacific. A 1909 landmark built with the superb materials and craftsmanship of that era, in the heart of Jack London neighborhood, this three-story Oakland landmark features exposed brick, wooden beams, skylights, and a wide variety of seating and meeting options. Other favorite features include a sunlit workbar. It features modern steel retro-fitting (1985) and a fully built restaurant designed by world famous Pat Kuleto. OAC is restoring the original brick and beam architecture for high tech shared office space on the upper floors.
